My Fashion Philosophy & Personal Style

Since I’m “new” in the fashion space (meaning I’m taking a leap of faith, starting my website, social media presence, and growing my business) I thought it appropriate to write a post about my own personal style and fashion philosophy. What makes fashion such a love affair for me is the moment I see a great outfit, I FEEL something. Immediately I feel inspired and a creative spark is lit. Fashion can make you feel something – just like a piece of art or beautiful architecture can. That’s why I believe that fashion can change the way we feel, thus changing how we move through life. Look great, feel great.

Diving into my own personal style, I’ll take a page from Allison Bornstein’s book and boil it down to 3 words: refined, minimalistic, and chic. I think simple looks make bold statements.

My Words of Fashion Advice

Buy the shoes! Just kidding.. sort of? Definitely be thoughtful about the pieces you want to add to your wardrobe but don’t think so much that you have decision paralysis. Sometimes you have to try something on to truly know if you love it. You can return it if it doesn’t work. All this to say, fashion should be a fun and creative process. When we overthink or put too much pressure on ourselves, it takes the joy out.

Second, figure out what you gravitate towards. I love Pinterest for this. I have been pinning looks I love for years and it’s my favorite tool to use to get my mind into a creative space. Make a board of looks you love and you’ll start to see some common themes and understand your own personal style.

Hopefully this gives you some insight into my own style and helps you get started on thinking about what your own style might be. Fashion is fun, creative, and powerful and it’s my goal to help make it that for you. It truly can change the way we feel and move through life.
